There are many things you can do to help promote home-grown American gullibility. Here are just a few ideas.

Hold a party or event to commemorate National Gullibility Week. Invite your friends or family.
Share a link to http://gullibilityweek.blogspot.com/ on your favorite social networking site or blog.
Ask your Senator to support ratification of the United Nations Convention on Naivety (Bologna, 1974).

Happy National Gullibility Week! This week has been observed across the United States each year since 1976, but its history truly begins in 1970, when then-President Richard M. Nixon, hearing of efforts worldwide to create an International Day of Credulity, established the President's Commission on Gullibility.

The Commission's 472-page report was delivered to Congress in March, 1975. By that time, the UN General Assembly had proclaimed this Wednesday as the annual International Day of Credulity, under the UN Convention on Naivety, agreed in October 1974 in Bologna.

After consultations with the National Governor's Association to avoid conflicts with other state and national observances, President Ford signed an executive order on February 29, 1976 establishing National Gullibility Week, to be celebrated this week every year.

The week surrounds the International Day of Credulity on Wednesday, but the International Day of Credulity is not observed in the United States. Although President Ford signed the UN Convention on Naivety, it has not yet been ratified by the Senate, where it must receive the support of a 67% supermajority.
